After I earned my B.A. from UNC-Chapel Hill, I worked 18 years as a trainman and locomotive engineer for CSX railroad. Inspection of the road bed, track, rail cars and locomotives to ensure safe, proper movement was a vital aspect of my duties operating freight trains.
